Early life and background
Born in 1995 in Mumbai into a music family, Armaan is the son of composer Daboo Malik and the nephew of composer Anu Malik. He started singing as a child, appeared on the kids’ edition of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, and recorded his first film songs as a child artist before trained, adult playback work began.
Career highlights
His adult breakthrough came with Main Hoon Hero Tera (Hero, 2015), followed by Bol Do Na Zara (Azhar), Sab Tera (Baaghi) and Wajah Tum Ho. He has worked closely with his brother Amaal Mallik on many of these tracks, and their combination became one of the defining sounds of mid-2010s Bollywood.
In South Indian cinema his Telugu song Butta Bomma (Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo) became one of the most-viewed Indian music videos. In 2020 he launched an English pop career with Control, and he has since collaborated with international artists including Ed Sheeran on a version of 2step.
