About Nagma
Nagma was one of the leading actresses of 1990s Indian cinema, with major hits in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and later Bhojpuri films. Born Nandita Arvind Morarji in Mumbai in 1974, she comes from a family with roots in Rajasthan and Gujarat. After a successful film career she moved into public life and has been active in politics.
Career highlights
Nagma made her film debut opposite Salman Khan in Baaghi (1990), one of the biggest Hindi hits of that year. She then became a top star in South Indian cinema, with Telugu successes such as Gharana Mogudu (1992) and Varasudu (1993), and Tamil blockbusters including Shankar’s Kaadhalan (1994) and Rajinikanth’s Baashha (1995), both of which remain much-loved classics.
In Hindi she also appeared in King Uncle (1993), Suhaag (1994) and Lal Baadshah (1999). In the 2000s she found a new audience in Bhojpuri cinema, where she became one of the industry’s prominent names.
What audiences love about Nagma
Audiences across South India remember Nagma for some of the most iconic films and songs of the 1990s, including the hit music of Kaadhalan. In the Hindi and Bhojpuri belts she is remembered as a glamorous star who worked comfortably across languages, a rarity in her era.
Her pan-Indian career, spanning four film industries, means she enjoys recognition in many parts of the country that few actors of her generation can match.
Why brands work with Nagma
Nagma brings strong nostalgia for audiences who grew up with 1990s cinema, especially in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and the Bhojpuri-speaking states. Because she is active in politics, her availability and the categories she can endorse may be limited, and brands should consider fit with their positioning.
