About Leander Paes
Leander Paes is one of India’s greatest sportsmen. He won bronze in men’s singles at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics, collected 18 Grand Slam titles in men’s and mixed doubles, and holds the record for most doubles wins in Davis Cup history. In 2024 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Early life and background
Leander was born in Kolkata to Olympian parents; his father Vece Paes won Olympic hockey bronze. He trained at the Britannia Amritraj Tennis Academy in Chennai.

After winning junior Wimbledon and US Open titles, he won Olympic bronze in 1996. His partnership with Mahesh Bhupathi produced three Grand Slams together, and he won many more with other partners, playing at the top level into his forties.
