About Vinay Kumar
Vinay Kumar, known as the “Davangere Express”, is a former India fast-medium bowler and one of the most successful captains in Karnataka’s cricket history. Born in 1984 in Davangere, Karnataka, he represented India in Tests, ODIs and T20Is, and is now a cricket commentator.
Career highlights
Vinay captained Karnataka to back-to-back Ranji Trophy titles in 2013–14 and 2014–15, along with other domestic trophies, forming one of the strongest domestic sides of the era. In November 2018 he played his 100th Ranji Trophy match, and he later moved to Puducherry, where he reached 400 first-class wickets.
In the IPL he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. After retiring, he moved into commentary.
