Benny grew up in a Malayali family in the UAE and began his music career as a member of the band S5, launched by SS Music TV, where A. R. Rahman noticed his voice.

Rahman gave him early breaks, including Pappu Can’t Dance in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008). He went on to sing Kaise Mujhe (Ghajini), Badtameez Dil (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), Lat Lag Gayee (Race 2) and the title track of Bang Bang, along with hundreds of songs in South Indian languages.
