Early life and background
Born in 1991 in Dharowali, near Gurdaspur in Punjab, Guru grew up singing at small events. He moved to Delhi to study and began writing and performing his own songs while working towards a business degree.
Career highlights
His single Patola (2015) was his breakthrough, followed by Suit (2016) and High Rated Gabru (2017). Lahore became one of the biggest Punjabi tracks of 2017, and Bollywood versions of Suit Suit (Hindi Medium), Ban Ja Rani (Tumhari Sulu) and Morni Banke (Badhaai Ho) took him into mainstream Hindi cinema.
